# Source links and as-of dates

Every reading should include where the number came from and when it was current.

## Concept

A value without its source and as-of date is easy to misread.

## Worked Example: Check one macro number and one company number

1. CPIAUCSL shows 333.979 as of 2026-05-01, with a FRED source link.
2. WMT revenue shows $713.2 billion for fiscal 2026, filed 2026-03-13, with SEC source links.
3. When you quote a number, carry the source and date with it.
